Indonesian villagers clean their houses and fields after Mount Sinabung erupted, spewing volcanic ash up into the sky.

One man cleans his roof with a hose and his plants' leaves in Naman Teran village in Karo, North Sumatra, on Tuesday (August 11), a day after the eruption of Mount Sinabung, which can be seen in the background.

Mount Sinabung erupted on Monday (August 10) sending a column of ash approximately 5,000 meters above the peak into the sky.

Crops failed due to the thick volcanic ash that covered the area. For example, agricultural products such as potatoes, chilies, tomatoes and cabbage, many are covered with ash and crop failure
