A cobra was found inside a clay pot after slipping into a birdcage in Pune, western India, on April 15.

Footage shows snake rescuer Saidas Kusal retrieving the dangerous reptile that was comfortably coiled inside a clay pot and blowing air until it came out.

Kusal said: “It was a young cobra, which had cleverly slipped through the grills of the cage. But its plan for an easy meal got interrupted.”

According to local media, a family of bird-lovers woke up to an unusual sound coming from their birdcage and were horrified to find a cobra. It had killed two birds, eaten one of them, while the three remaining birds were screaming.

As the family put on the light in panic, the cobra felt threatened, regurgitated the bird it had swallowed, and took refuge in an earthen pot which had been kept as a nest for the birds.

The cobra was later released into the wild.

On getting a call, snake rescuer Saidas Kusal went to the house and found that the snake had comfortably coiled itself inside the pot. He took the pot out, blew air and shook it to make the cobra come out. He caught and released it later in the wild.

Saidas said: “It was a young cobra, which had cleverly slipped through the grills of the cage. But its plan for an easy meal got interrupted.”
