Photographer Teams Up With Falconers To Capture Beautiful images of a Harris Hawk Flying Around Cardiff
When photographer Ewan Wilson (age 25) and Falconers James and Serenity (age 22 & 21) meet at Cardiff Castle on July 29th they planned to use each others skills to film the beautiful Harris Hawk called Skye, flying around the city of Cardiff.
Skye began her flight and called the sky's of Cardiff City centre home. She perched on traffic lights and bus stops, turning the heads of the public as she sores across the city streets. The Harris Hawk is native to Central America, so her exotic appearance was beginning to become noticed by the Welsh public.
The Photographer and Falconers moved to the nearest park where they planned to capture Skye's low flying skills. Skye beautifully demonstrates her ability to fly low to the ground and know exactly when to pull up for her to perfectly land on the falconers arm. When the team left the park they attracted the attention of some unhappy seagulls, one brave gull attempted to shack off the bird of prey, but the seagull quickly lost its bravery as Skye shows no fear and stays her course.
"Capturing images of this beautiful bird of prey soaring across the grey streets of Cardiff was a strange and surprisingly beautiful experience. But what was most surprising was watching the public watch the Harris Hawk flying around. As a nature photographer it is my aim to help encourage more people to fall in love with wildlife. This was an incredible moment, seeing people from all walks of life watching the Harris Hawk in awe. Skye beautifully demonstrates how people are fascinated in wildlife, and seeing them up close will hopefully fuel a hunger to see more of our natural world for themselves!"
