Students, teachers and parents protest outside Downing Street against exam results

A hundred protestors gathered outside Downing Street in response to the growing crisis around this year’s A-level results, after exam results of more than 200,000 results were downgraded.

This was after thousands of students across the country received their grades that were "moderated by an algorithm" because exams were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and furious about the grading system they claimed let them down.

I spoke to Isai who told me, "I am from the Socialist Party, and we are here protesting against outrageous ways the Tory government have failed a whole generation in terms of A level results. It has failed to provide young people an opportunity to have a future that they can actually have decent jobs and housing etc".

A number of students made passionate speeches while calling for the resignation of the Education Secretary Gavin Williamson and chanting "sack Gavin Williamson" and "teachers not Tories" whilst holding placards.

They had also made their voices heard outside the Department For education building.
