Villagers in southern India gathered for a traditional fishing festival on August 8 to mark the changing of the seasons.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, villagers of Nallur of Ramanathapuram district in Tamilnadu gathered to catch fishes.

Reportedly around 500 people would appear to catch the in the pond but this year due to the pandemic, only 25 people was allowed inside the pond who had to follow social distancing strictly.

Thanks to the pre-monsoon the nearby pond was filled with abundant fish. The one who got the big catch was awarded with a prize, and afterwards all fish that were caught was distributed evenly to all the villagers.
