A stray dog was rescued after spending the night tangled in a soccer net.

The rescue team rushed to the football field in Ang Thong, central Thailand to help the struggling pooch after a man who lives nearby called them on August 10.

Rescuers were able to remove the frightened animal out of its predicament by cutting the tangled mesh for more than five minutes.

They secured the frightened mutt's mouth using a white sheet, so it could not bite them while working as it had started to panic.

Rescue volunteer Chalermphon Inchai said the man who lives nearby heard the dog crying when he woke up in the morning which means that it might have been suffering for long hours in the night.

He said: "We were pleased that we helped it out of the net. It might have been trapped there since last night."

The dog immediately ran away from the crowd after it was freed from the net.
