Forest officials rescue Indian Jackal from 80 feet deep well in central India.
Forest officials requested Animal Rahat (NGO) for helping them to rescue of an Indian Jackal from deep well and team also got information from other sources about same. As per plan Forest officials reached village Kardehalli, South Solapur Maharashtra India. Team observed the situation there, well was approx 80 feet deep, water level was up to 2-3 feet which was at one side, Indian Jackal was sitting at dry place at other side of well at bottom. Further enquiry with villagers, they observed jackal a day ago and informed forest department for same. Here no chance of bringing ambulance near to well and there was no big tree nearby to make rope anchored, so little far away, rope was anchored with a small tree and supported by iron mac.
Mr Anand Biradajar rappelled down in well. This time, it was very difficult for him, because lot of small stones and soil were falling down on him continuously from top. After reaching him at bottom, other team members lowered dog catching net in the well. Mr Anand Birajdar tried to catch the Jackal, but he escaped from net and but in second attempt, he caught the Indian Jackal. It was good thing that Jackal was not attacking on him as he was scared. Then this net was covered with other sack to prevent further escape while pulling and this was pulled by staffs who were at top. Immediately after taking him up, forest department personnel shifted him inside the iron cage.
Veterinary Dr Akash Jadhav From Animal Rahat examined the Indian Jackal, no injury was observed to Jackal, he was fine but showing aggression as he wanted to be free. So we decided to release immediately at nearby area. The forest officials took cage to nearby area and opened the gate of cage. Once the gate opened, Indian Jackal ran away very fast. After covering aprox. 300-meter distance, the Jackal looked back for a second then again ran away.
