A 35-year-old man had to be airlifted to safety by the Indian air force after becoming stranded in the middle of a flooded river in Chhattisgarh.

The footage, filmed on August 17, shows the man clinging onto a bush as the helicopter slowly lowers down towards him.

As the man is winched up, the onlooking crowd burst into applause and cheers.

According to locals, the man was stuck there for almost 14 hours.

A man aged 35 years who was stuck in the middle of the flooded river on 16th August around 5 pm was rescued by Indian Air force on 17th August around 7:30 am in morning .
The incident happened in kutaghat village in Bilaspur of chattisgarh state . According to local villagers no one knows how the man reached there , he was stucked on a rock in the middle of the overflowing river , he grabbed the nearby tree and was there for almost 14 hours . In evening we tried to rescue him but failed .
In morning local administration seeked help from Indian Air force to rescue . In a 30 minutes dramatic rescue mission he got pulled upon .
He was taken to Raipur.
