A village in North Sumatra, Indonesia has been left abandoned since 2014 when a volcanic eruption forced its 400 inhabitants to evacuate.

Footage filmed on August 17 shows the eerie remains of Beras Tepuvillage which contains several collapsed and damaged structures.

The settlement lies in the wake of the active volcano Mount Sinabung which erupted on August 10.

In 2014, 16 people were killed as the volcano spurted out volcanic ash and larva, forcing nearby villages to evacuate.

Authorities ordered the local community not to carry out activities in the villages to avoid further casualties.
