A five-foot-long crocodile was rescued from underneath a concrete bench after it strayed into a city in western India’s Gujarat, from a nearby river.

The incident took place on August 14 in Navlakhi situated on the southwest end of the Gulf of Kutch.

According to reports, one of the passersby spotted the reptile lounging underneath a bench opposite Navlakhi compound, and alerted the rescuers.

Volunteers then rushed to the spot to rescue the reptile.

Visuals show a volunteer using a clamp to hold the reptile down, as another volunteer covers its head with a piece of cloth in order to gain control of it.

According to one of the volunteers, the crocodile could have ventured out of Vishwamitri River, and possibly crawled all the way under the bench at night.
