Bear cools down on patch of snow during heatwave in Mount Rainier National Park, Washington
This was the moment a bear in Mount Rainier National Park used a patch of melting snow to cool down during a heatwave the hit Washington State on August 16.
Footage shows the animal lay on the limited cold space of snow, while temperatures soared to 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29C).
The filmer said: "This bear was close to a trail in Mt Rainier national park in Washington State, US.
"It was very hot for the region - 95F in Seattle, 85F in the national park - on this day.
"This bear was sleeping on a patch of snow.
"Later, he woke up when I recorded this video.
"After this video was shot he went on to eat plants and roots.
"We had to move back as he was approaching us."
