A deadly cobra sparked panic after it slithered inside a car engine in Bali.

The snake was first seen by the driver of the car while it was parked in front of a bank on the popular tourist island in Indonesia on August 18.

Angga Yudiantara, who called the emergency services, said: "The driver saw something get into his vehicle. He checked the hood of his car before starting the engine to leave. That's when he saw the snake and shouted for help."

The surprised driver panicked even more after noticing that the snake was a deadly cobra hiding inside his car.

Angga added: "Everyone who witnessed the evacuation process panicked. We know that the cobra is a dangerous snake."

Trying to get away from all the attention, the snake disappeared even deeper into the car's engine.

The emergency services arrived and officers were careful not to startle the snake amid fears it could escape and dart into one of the nearby shops/

The snake was eventually secured by firefighters after a few hours for it to be released into the jungle.
