A Derecho storm hit parts of Iowa earlier this month causing significant damage from 100mph winds that batter the state.

Footage shows the view from filmer Nathan Hagarty's front porch in suburban Cedar Rapids on August 10 as it's battered by heavy wind and rain.

A Derecho storm is described as "a widespread, long-lived, straight-line wind storm that is associated with a fast-moving group of severe thunderstorms known as a mesoscale convective system and potentially rivaling hurricanic and tornadic forces."
