Personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), rescued an injured woman from a remote village in northern India.

A group of 25 ITBP men carried her on a stretcher from her village in Pithoragarh district and shifted her to a hospital walking 40km over 15 hours, trekking across flooded mountains.

The woman fell and broke her legs on August 20. She hails from a remote village Laspa of Munsiyari division.

On receiving information, the ITBP personnel went to the village from their border outpost to rescue the woman whose condition was worsening every passing day due to lack of treatment.

The ITBP personnel reached the village, 22 km from their base in Milam, on August 22 covering most of the stretch on foot, before making the further 40km journey and evacuating the woman to a hospital safely.
