At least 17 people have died after a tourist bus fell from a cliff near the village of Biso, Georgia on Sunday (August 23), the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Three people were also seriously injured in the accident.

An investigation has been opened.

The tragedy occurred on the evening of Sunday, 23 August. The bus fell off a cliff and fell from about 80 metres near the high village of Shatili in Dushet municipality. According to preliminary information, there were tourists from Tbilisi inside. Eyewitnesses say the vehicle fell off a cliff after an alleged collision with a passenger car.
