“The deficit of rainfall and the lack of humidity in the soil favor the appearance of fires. This image shows a clear increase in the number of heat sources (accumulated monthly) between January and August 2020 ″, explained the agency.

According to the latest information, about 170 volunteer firefighters were working to combat the flames that continued to affect the north of the Punilla Valley and other mountains of Córdoba where more than 150 people had to be evacuated and four rural homes were already affected, in addition to the environmental damage it represents.

Most of the fire fighting task was done by land, with fire trucks and tanker trucks, since the weather conditions due to the strong winds prevented the flight of the hydrant planes.

In this area, the “uncontrolled” fire spread towards the mountain range near the towns of El Carrizal, Escobas and Copacabana, and towards the south, towards the city of Capilla del Monte, where four wooden houses were burned and others with partial damage.
