Three Retailers in a Row Closing in A South Florida Shopping Plaza

The cost of closing too late and opening too early in response to the Covid-19 pandemic is becoming more apparent in South Florida, one of the hardest hit regions in the country. Restaurants, bars and retailers are going out of business, leaving many workers without jobs or the hope of employment any time soon. This video shows three retailers in a row -- Pier 1 Imports, Tuesday Morning, and Stein Mart -- simultaneously holding going out of business sales at stores in the Delray Place shopping plaza in Delray Beach, Florida. Without tourist and snowbird money, off-season is always difficult for South Florida businesses. Covid-19 is making it impossible for many. A huge part of the problem also is that some local, year-round shoppers still don't dare to frequent retailers unless absolutely necessary. Not trusting that steps have been taken to protect them from infection, they're following the basic expert advice of staying home as much as possible, washing their hands often, and, when they have to go out, wearing masks and avoiding enclosed places, crowded spaces and close contact.
