Music Plays in a Nearly Empty Downtown Minneapolis as National Guard Members Patrol The Area
Two National Guard Humvees can be seen parked on the sidewalk on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis on Thursday, August 27th moments before the 8 pm citywide curfew was set to go into effect. Music played from speakers at a nearby business. Riots broke out in Minneapolis on Wednesday, August 26th after a man shot and killed himself downtown. Soon after looting began downtown a curfew was put in place and the National Guard was called in. The curfew continued on Thursday night.
