I recently moved to NYC after graduating college. I am an only child so my mom has been really emotional with me gone. She would call me in the grocery store crying because we would usually shop together. On her birthday Jan. 17, I called her and I knew immediately she was very sad. For her birthday dinner that night she wore one of my dresses i left in orlando because she wanted to feel close to me. In terms of planning my dad and i knew her birthday wouldnt be perfect unless i was there so we booked a flight that Thursday night Jan. 16. I was there to surprise her the Saturday Jan. 18 at a family gathering my dad had surprised her with. She had no clue i was coming and i did a pretty good job at making her think i was still in the city
