Busy Day in Munching Monarch Caterpillar Town

Buy video

I raise wild Monarch Butterflies from eggs that were deposited on invasive Himalayan Balsam plants not native to Canada which lure Monarch Butterflies. Himalayan Balsam closely resembles milkweed ,the only problem is that the eggs laid on these plants die because they are not a viable food source when the young caterpillars hatch. I dedicate my time for the past 3 years to saving Monarch Butterflies each summer. The more I save the more they return each year. I am planting native milkweed to replace the Himalayan Balsam and slowly reducing or removing them altogether from my garden. Caring for them is a regular daily routine of cleaning their droppings and replacing milkweed but worth it as it truly is a labour of love.
