A drone operator from Switzerland has rigged his drone to be able to scale the Matterhorn and descend at staggering speeds of 124 mph (200 kph).

Footage filmed on August 4 shows the terrifying descent of camera, which captures the intense and jagged cliff face of the iconic mountain from a height of around 4,478 metres.

The descent - or "dive" as it is known - captured the Hörnligrat ridge, which is popular with mountaineers.

The filmer, who posts online under the moniker Mr.NoPro, told Newsflare: "I have built a drone that is can reach the top of the Matterhorn and fly really close to the mountain at over 200 kph!

"It was about six weeks of preparation and a lot of testing and training."
