Fire crews were called to rescue a hapless cow after it got stuck in a drainage canal on March 8, 2019.

The rescue video shows the animal up to its waist after it stumbled into the water in Sangli, western India.

Firefighters used specialist equipment and a giant harness attached to a heavy-lifting loader to lift the cow out of the water.

According to local media, the owner of the cow had previously climb down in the canal and observed the animal was bleeding after a piece of glass had pierced its leg.

Vet, Dr. Avinash Visalkar Animal Rahat, examined the cow and no major injury was observed on the body of the animal.

As soon as it got information, The team reached to that spot you y minutes and first observed the situation, location and crowd of peoples around the gutter and that gutter full of water with flow. After that prepared plan and meanwhile Dr. Visalkar informed to Dr. Chetan Yadav, Clinical Quality Assurance Manager regarding the rescue.

Already some employees from Fire Bridged department and cow owner, Mr. Rafiqe Sindhi were present at the location. First the owner of that cow climb down in the gutter and tied morkee to the cow but after tying the morkee to the cow he came out from gutter because piece of glass deeply pierced in the leg and due to that profuse bleeding occurred. Then as per the plan Mr. Koustubh Pol climb down with the help of steel ladder and then fixed the chest belt, then pulled out the cow with the help of Crain and morkee after 30 min. effort.

Veterinary Dr. Avinash Visalkar Animal Rahat observed the cow, but there were no major injury observed on the body of the cow, but found one incised wound on left foreleg and abrasion wound below left eye and cow was in fear. Mr. Prasad Suryawanshi requested to crowd for leaving the place and keep silence. After that Dr. Avinash Visalkar took all parameters of the cow and administered painkiller intravenously and rubbed the body of the cow for coming out of the fear and stress. After that did dressing of the wound by using antiseptic ointment and administered antibiotics intravenously.

The owner of the cow took her at home safely. At owners home team provided follow up treatment to the cow for 15 to 20 days till wound heals. Dr. Avinash Visalkar instructed to the cow owner for not leaving the cow on road and take care of the cow at home.
