Bulgaria’s capital Sofia was experiencing one of its most heated protest days on Wednesday since the start of the wave of anti-government demonstrations, which has gone on for 56 days.
Wednesday’s protest coincided with a session of parliament dedicated to debating amendments to the constitution proposed by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov’s center-right GERB party – and widely seen as a way for his cabinet to prolong its life until March 2021, when the next elections are scheduled.
