A father donned a self-made Bumblebee costume, from the "Transformers" films, to surprise his son in kindergarten in eastern China.

In the video, filmed in the city of Shanghai on September 2, a father named Zhang put on an over 2-metre-high Bumblebee costume he made himself to pick up his son at the kindergarten gate.

Excited children were seen surrounding him and a boy's mother held their son to the front of him.

According to reports, Zhang spent a month making the Bumblebee costume by himself. He chose some soft materials to avoid hurting the children.

Zhang said he made the costume to surprise his son as well as bring joy to other children.

张先生 "大黄蜂"制作者：用一些材质也会考虑到，会不会产生可能性的碰撞，把小朋友或者其他人碰伤，就考虑用一些软的材质，包括皮。制作过程中也会遇到一些难点，也会打磨，让表面看起来不那么粗糙。也给其他小朋友带来欢乐，也是我想要的。并不是说只为了自己的宝宝去穿一下，所有小朋友都是小班年级，他对这种憧憬就是脑袋里面会有，哇，机器人。装甲机甲，很多概念他们就会呈现出来。
