Activist group protests against farm murders and corruption in South Africa

An anti-government activist group calling itself Move One Million, protested on Cape Town's Grand parade against farm murders and corruption, as well as calling for direct elections.

The group aimed to bring one million people out to protest across across South Africa today. About a thousand people showed up for the protest at the Grand Parade, including a large contingent of bikers who are highlighting the issue of farm murders in South Africa.

South African statistics show that 58 people are murdered in South Africa every day. According to South African police statistics, 47 farm murders took place in the 2018/2019 financial year. According to Africa Check a total of 21 325 murders took place in South Africa in 2019.

Jarette Petzer, one of the leaders of One Million SA, says that they are not a political movement but simply a movement by the people and of the people
