Mourners fire of weapons in Tariq El Jedide for the funeral of Taha Krinbe, who was killed last night in fighting between Saad and Bahaa Hariri supporters.

Taha Krinbe was killed in a gunfight last night, in an altercation that began as a personal issue, but spilled out into fighting between two neighbourhoods. The neighbourhoods are separated politically. Taha Krinbe himself isn't a known figure, however his death is significant because of increasing tensions between populations as the political and economic crisis deepens. These communities have experienced violence in the forms of revenge killings for a long time, and Taha Krinbe's death is unlikely to be the last. However, within the wider context there is a concern that fighting is likely to become more bloody and intense.
