Experience what it's like to dive in shark-infested waters

Wildlife photographer and amateur diver Ewan Wilson had the experience of a life time when he decided to go shark diving without a cage. The group desened approximately 18ft under water and waited for a group of oceanic black tip sharks to emerge out of the gloom to greet them!

The sharks came in close and seemed to enjoy the company of the divers. The fear I originally felt when the sharks came close quickly became respect for the animals I was sharing the sea with. They seemed to be more interested in us rather than seeing us as a potential meal.

The estimated amount of sharks that are killed by fisheries is believed to be over 70 million each year. These animals are considered a delicacy by some and to threatening to keep alive by others. However these beliefs could be fuelling the extinction of these majestic animals.

Our perception of these animals could not be further from the truth. In order to save these incredible creatures we must start by realising the true value of sharks being alive and in our oceans.
