Father electrocuted after touching fairground swing
A father was electrocuted when he lifted his daughter into a carousel ride.
Suriya Khuiyoksui, 30, was with his family when the accident happened at the local carnival in Krabi, southern Thailand, on September 3.
His four-year-old daughter was about to ride the mini car swings when her father stopped the ride, which was still rotating, by grabbing the overhead pole.
However, the caring father was electrocuted when he touched the metal. He fell backwards as staff rushed to unplug the ride and cut out the electricity.
Luckily, no other children touched the pole at the time the electrical circuit had failed.
Suriya's frantic wife called the emergency serviced, who took him to a nearby hospital to treat his burns.
The father has been recovering at the local hospital where medics have performed checks on his internal organs.
Speaking at the hospital, Suriya said that the staff should check all the rides before letting children on.
He said: "I only remember passing out and waking up at the hospital. I only knew that I was had an electric shock.
"All kinds of electric carnival rides are dangerous to everyone. The staff should have been more careful about checking the system before letting people in."
The carousel's owner said that they will be dismantling the faulty ride and paying for all the damages and medical fees.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Somphon Deedaung investigated the scene and will further interview the witnesses before a case is made against the owners.
