COSATU, South Africa's largest trade union federation, held a march in Cape Town ahead of Finance Minister Tito Mboweni's budget speech, to protest against potential job losses and to oppose the privatisation of state owned enterprises such as Eskom.

Hundreds of members belonging to COSATU affiliated trade unions marched through the CBD to Parliament where they were address by trade union leaders and leaders from the Tripartite Alliance.

Muhammed Khaied Sayed from the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) said that state owned enterprises shouldn't be profit centres but vehicles to empower people.

Faiez Jacobs from the African National Congress (ANC) says they will oppose privatisation and mobilise workers to consolidate their power.
