Horrified villagers in central India's Korba had to call in specialist snake rescuers after a 13-foot-long king cobra fought with a mob of mongooses.

Footage from September 8 shows professional reptile rescuer Avinash Yadav and colleagues retrieve the beast after it sought refuge in a tree.

The team rushed to the location as it was feared locals would have stoned the snake.

The snake was rescued and released back safely into the wild.

Villagers in Central India saw a huge cobra fighting with mongoes, the horrified villagers sent sos to snake rescuers for help.

The Snake rescuer Avinash Yadav & team started looking for the snake but the snake hid in the forest. Fearing the big snake being stoned, the RCRS team rushed to the spot and seeing the nearly 12 feet long King Cobra, the RCRS team prevented people from stoning it.

Avinash Yadav apprised the forest officials of the situation. As soon as the information was received, the forest department Mr. Shashi Singh (IFS) reached the spot along with the forest personnel. Seeing the fear and anxiety of the people, the snake was rescued from there. It was considered appropriate to leave it in a safe place.
Avinash Yadav and his team showed courage while rescuring the snake with great intelligence.

And without wasting time, this 12-foot 10 inch-long King Cobra was safely released in the thick forests of forest department personnel.
