Community opposes bail for Cape Town man accused of burying his wife and burying her in shallow grave

The community of Fisantekraal near Kraaifontein, Cape Town, protested outside the Bellville Magistrate's Court, to oppose bail for a man accused of murdering his wife and burying her in a shallow grave.

The body of the 35 year old deceased, Nosicelo Tsipa, was discovered after a community member in Greenville noticed her feet sticking out of the ground. Her body appeared to have been partially burnt when it was discovered a few hundred metres from her home.

Community members allege that the accused was having extra-marital affairs and his wife found out about it. The accused in Bellville Magistrate's court on a charge of murder.

The victim's sister, Yandiswa Tsipa, spoke to the media outside the court and said the law regulating justice for victims of gender based violence needs to be revised. The accused was remanded in custody and will appear in court again on 21 September for a formal bail application.
