A deputy from Riverside County Sheriff's Department crashed into a street light this morning (September 13th).

Firefighters were called to the scene in the area of 9001 on Mission Boulevard.

According to witnesses, the driver of the police cruiser suffered only minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is unknown although police were at the scene questioning occupants of a grey sedan.

Cal Fire responded to reports of an RSO cruiser that crashed into a pole in the area of 9001 Mission Blvd. Arriving crews located the cruiser facing the wrong way after coming to rest on the right side of the road. The deputy driving the cruiser collided with a light pole about 100 m away from where the vehicle stopped. A grey sedan was on scene with the occupants being questioned by officers as witnesses to the crash. It's unknown at this time if the grey vehicle was also involved. According to witnesses the driver of the cruiser suffered only minor injuries although it's unknown if the driver was transported by medical. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time and under investigation.
