Forest department officials have rescued a baby elephant stranded in the mud in Sri Lanka.

The visual came out of Divulana Villu in the 'Jalagalum Nimna' National Park on August 5.

The video shows several Polonnaruwa Wildlife Conservation Officers trying to help the calf who can be seen struggling to escape from the mud.

After several attempts, the officials managed to free the elephant who seemed visibly stressed.

The elephant who is allegedly at least three-year-old was rescued from the mud and was reunited with the herd.
