Hurricane Sally has battered parts of Alabama's Gulf Coast resulting in an area-wide curfew.

Footage filmed by Twitter users @briandleiser shows how Orange Beach has been lashed with stormy weather, including the marina that is at the forefront of the now Category 2 hurricane's wrath.

Additional footage filmed by @Thisisme1969 shows heavy rain battering Orange Beach.

Authorities have issued a curfew for residents meaning they can only leave their homes in emergency situations.

The Gulf Shores and surrounding areas of Alabama ordered residents mandatory curfew on Tuesday, September 15 due to Hurricane Sally is approaching and is expected potential life-threatening damage.

Travel is not permitted during curfew hours, except for emergency situations. Residents have been recommended to evacuate or shelter in place taking all necessary precautions.

Slow-moving Hurricane Sally continues to bring storm surges along the Gulf Coast on Tuesday, September 15.

Alabama is seeing intensified rough seas as the hurricane crawls toward the state. The category 1 hurricane is expected to hit the Alabama and Mississippi state line late on Tuesday and threatens to bring 'historic' flooding to the region.
