A man removed a plastic container from a monitor lizard's head after the animal was spotted struggling in northern India's Himachal Pradesh.

The footage, filmed on September 15 in Sundar Nagar, shows the reptile struggling to move freely with the container stuck on its head.

As one man pins down the lizard, another is able to slowly remove the container from the reptile's head.

The pair then let go of the animal seeing it scurry away.

A man was spotted helping a monitor lizard that unwittingly got its head stuck inside a plastic container in northern India’s Himachal Pradesh.

The incident took place in Sundernagar on September 15.

Visuals show the reptile disoriented while not being able to see with the container fixed to its head.

A man can be seen attempting to gain control of the reptile to help it out of its misery.

Upon being cornered to a wall, the lizard stops for a while when the man places his foot on the reptile’s tail and gains control.

He then proceeds to pull out the container from its head and frees it.
