A rat snake was rescued from a two-wheeler in northern India’s Uttarakhand on September 17.

The rescue operation was carried out in Dehradun’s Clock Tower area.

Visuals show Dehradun Rescue Team Lead Ravi Joshi trying to extricate the reptile from under the scooter while another man smacks the two-wheeler to lure the snake out.

Upon extraction, the tiny snake can be seen coiling over the rescuer’s hands. Joshi released the snake into the forest later.

Popularly known as Dhaman, the Indian Rat Snake is widely distributed across South and Southeast Asia, where it adapts quickly to a variety of habits namely arid land, open fields, farmland, coastal regions, freshwater or brackish water wetlands.
