A couple of cobras were scooped out of a 60-foot-deep well by an animal rescuer near western India's Ahmednagar.

Footage filmed on September 10 shows Nawaz, the animal rescuer, being lowered down into the well and attempting to lure the cobras into a net.

Nawaz only managed to rescue the female cobra as the male one had taken refuge in a small crack between some stones.

Animal Rescue Society employee Akash Jadhav said: "It was a difficult rescue. Nawaz could not make the other snake come out of its hiding place. The snake had to be rescued later."

A make and female cobra fell inside a 60-feet deep well after a mating dance went awry at a village near Ahmednagar in western India on September 10.

Getting a call, Animal rescue Society’s Akash Jadhav and team went to the village and team member Nawaz Shaikh went down the well.

The male cobra swiftly swam away from him and took refuge in a crack between stones in the wall of the well. Nawaz turned his attention on the female, who also proved to be slippery.

Hanging mid air, Nawaz tried to scoop her up with a snake stick and put her in a bag. The snake wriggled out of his grasp as many as four times till he managed to catch her.

It was released in the wild later.

Akash said: “It was a difficult rescue. Nawaz could not make the other snake come out of its hiding place. The snake had to be rescued later."
