Whilst hiking, wildlife photographer Ewan Wilson spots a sight that people rarely see. An elusive Spanish Goshawk flys over head and displays its beautiful colouring to the ecstatic wildlife enthusiast. The photographer struggles to contain his excitement and at first struggles to identify the beautiful creature flying above him.

The Spanish Goshawk has a wing span of 61cm (24inch) and is an incredible predator, able to take small to medium sized prey such as rabbits and pigeons. The bird is known as the phantom of the forest, it gets this name from people how have seen it but only for a split second. Finding it in a forest is one thing, but finding one on a mountain is almost un herd of.

These beautiful birds are found all over Europe and keep themselves to themselves. They are not endangered and are a reminder that humans and wild animals can co-exist.
