A London shopper was left surprised on Tuesday (September 22) when he found Christmas items on display at a major store.

Costco in Wembley has already put Christmas merchandise on display despite there being nearly 100 days to go.

Among the items on display are Christmas calendars, Christmas trees and Christmas lights.

But the shopper praised the retailer for being "clever" and anticipating demand ahead of a possible national lockdown amid renewed fears over the coronavirus pandemic.

"I’ve been coming to this store for five years," the filmer said. "They normally sell Christmas stuff in mid-November. For some reason they’ve got it on the shop floor early because I think they’re going to worry about a second lockdown. They’re quite clever because people panic buy Christmas stuff in case all the shops are closed over Christmas for the second lockdown.

"You can see it here … wrapping paper, garden decorations, absolute clever idea Costco! You’ll probably see people panic buy this stuff soon. Christmas cards … Christmas calendars, Christmas lights.
