1st alarm rowhome fire Shamokin, Pa

This fire was found to be electrical in nature.
22:30 approx. After a neighbor found flames showing on a neighboring structure he notified the County 911 Dispatch center.
Upon arrival of the first in units fire fighters found the second division of side “C” off and went to work simultaneously extinguishing the fire and ensuring all of the residence of the rowhome evacuated safely.
Assistant Fire Chief Steve Jeffrey, who had command of the scene, said 516 Bear Valley Ave. sustained fire damage but isn’t a total loss. “The fire was under control in 35 min. The chief also confirmed Walter Kline and Mary Paules, who lived at 512 Bear Valley Ave., smelled smoke and saw flames before calling 911.

Deputy Chief Ken Pilkus stated “flames were visible from the rear of the properties as firefighters drove uphill on Market Street toward the scene.” “We got in and started knocking it down in the first floor. It was running up the exterior wall. It rolled right up through the exterior and went through the buildings.”
Chief Rogers confirmed that several of the homes “probably going to have to be torn down.”
