A crocodile that strayed inside a biryani shop was rescued by the forest department in northern India's Uttar Pradesh on September 25.

The rescue operation was carried out in Sampurna Nagar of Kheri district.

The forest department was alerted by customers on spotting the curious crocodile wandering inside the shop.

The video shows the team of forest officials trying to catch the crocodile. On cornering the reptile, they can be seen using ropes to restrain it.

The forest team later rescued the crocodile after a long-drawn operation lasting over two hours.

The crocodile was released into the wild using a pickup truck.

Since the area is surrounded by forests on all sides, spotting wild animals is not a difficult task for locals during the monsoon season.
