Construction workers in China's Chengdu illegally cut down nearly 150 trees
Nearly 150 trees were cut down illegally as part of construction work on a section of a road in a major city in southern China.
The video, filmed in Chengdu in Sichuan Province on September 24, shows trees being cut down and being placing on the side of a road while construction workers use a crane to remove the trees.
The trees lined Guihua Alley. Guihua means sweet osmanthus.
Construction workers reportedly cut down the trees without consulting local citizens. According to reports, the project did not apply for approval and has now been halted, but not before 143 trees were removed.
The work included placing underground cables, road reconstruction and greening.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
