Villagers use electric overhead wire as bridge to cross river when local government doesn't build one

Villagers in eastern India were seen using electric wires as a bridge to cross a river in Odisha, eastern India.

The villagers have complained that the administration for their home village of Birindapada in Kandhamal district, have failed to hear their plight about constructing a bridge to ferry them from one side to another.

Crossings are possible when the power is out due to heavy rainfall, but is still very dangerous if suddenly the power house reactivates the electricity to the lines.

People, including children, women and men, are seen hanging on to the wires to cross the river that runs to a distance of more than six kilometres.

It is just not the first time that they have been resorting to to such a dangerous mode of transport but have been doing so for the last 30 years.

Tue people complain that the local administration have failed them for the past 30 years and they are left with no other option that taking the dangerous route to ferry themselves.
