An 80-year-old man was seen in Blackpool, UK pouring what appeared to be petrol from a canister in the Halifax bank on Church Street on September 28 during a 12-hour standoff.

Footage captured by Twitter user @frxnae shows the man in the foyer of the bank with a green petrol container appearing to pour it inside the building, while a police officer watches on.

Emergency services watched on for 12 hours after the man stood against officers from 2 pm to the early hours of the next day.

The man eventually gave himself up and was detained under the Mental Health Act.
