Firefighters rescued a buffalo stuck in a narrow water channel in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

The incident took place in the town of Ponnamaravathi, Pudukkottai district, on the afternoon of September 23.

Footage shows firefighters and villagers working together to guide the trapped animal out of the narrow water channel, as a crowd of onlookers gathers at the scene.

According to local reports, the buffalo accidentally fell into the water channel and became stuck.

Villagers informed Ponnamaravathi fire department officials, who carried out the one-hour-and-fifteen-minute long rescue operation.
