The death of a 19-year-old woman in India after a brutal alleged gang rape has sparked widespread outrage and protests.

Footage filmed today (September 29) from her hometown in Hathras in northern Uttar Pradesh after news of her death saw people come out to protest, demanding the death penalty for the rapists.

The girl died of her injuries on September 29 in Delhi's Safdarjung hospital, two weeks after being admitted following the attack on September 14.

The attack took place in Bulgari village, Hathras district, where the girl was assaulted by four men, according to local reports.
