Shocking footage of a police officer in Argentina getting stabbed to death by man with mental disorders
An inspector of the Argentine Federal Police (PFA) was killed by four stab wounds in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo by a man with alleged mental disorders who ended up shot and detained.
An investigation whether at the time of the event the aggressor was threatening others is processing.
A witness who was in a bar in front of the crime scene told Todo Noticias this afternoon that moments before the attack the aggressor "was talking to God... he was gone" and that when several police officers approached him, this man said, "who got me first?"
The witness said that the murdered policeman first fired "two shots to the ground" to calm him down when he saw that he had a knife.
"He was surprised by the policeman because he had the knife inside his backpack," said the man who described that "it was all very fast."
Another witness who was meters from the scene was the film and television producer Ignacio Viale, who described to the press that the attacker "drew the knife and then stabbed it" in the fold of the policeman's vest.
"Then [he]... jumps and sticks it in the fold of the vest," recalled Viale, who also clarified that the troops never "managed to shoot him in the chest or in the head" but rather at the legs so as not to endanger anyone surrounding the area.
"When he took out the knife, he saw a tremendous stream of blood," said the producer. The producer praised the actions of the troops who "never fired shots anywhere."
“The police were extremely professional. I would tell you that this person thought 20 times before shooting a shot,” Viale added.
The victim was identified as Inspector Juan Roldán, who was the father of a three-year-old boy and was serving in the Mounted Police Corps of the PFA. He suffered one stab wound in the chest, close to his heart.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 4.30 p.m., at the corner of Calle San Martín de Tours and Avenida Figueroa Alcorta, a few meters from the entrance to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (Malba), a very busy place in the city.
Personnel from the City Police and the Emergency Medical Care Service (SAME) traveled to the site after being alerted to the presence of two injured people.
Police sources detailed that Roldán died around 5:30 p.m. in that sanatorium.
For his part, the aggressor had at least one shot of a firearm in his lower limbs, apparently fired by Inspector Roldán when he defended himself from the stabbing attack.
Crescenti explained that this man was taken in custody to the Fernández Hospital, where this afternoon he was undergoing surgery.
The accused was identified by the Police as Rodrigo Facundo Roza, of Argentine nationality and of legal age.
The investigations are trying to determine if it is a man in a street situation who minutes before threatened the customers of a bar who were having a coffee at a table located on the sidewalk.
The aggressor had a knife inside the backpack he was carrying and with that weapon, he stabbed Roldán, who was "properly uniformed and with his vest" on.
The Buenos Aires deputy head of government, Diego Santilli, told Todo Noticias (TN) channel that it was a "big, important knife", like a "carnage" that the attacker took out of his backpack.
The Buenos Aires official also confirmed that this person was "making a monologue in front of two others who were sitting at a table" and that they had already brought all the images to justice.
Meanwhile, the City Police experts seized the knife used by the attacker at the crime scene, which is wrapped in red paper.
