A farmer was devastated after his prized fighting roosters were devoured by a 13ft-long wild python that rampaged into their coop.

Watcharaphan Na-Ngam, 35, was about to feed his priced champion roosters when he saw the bloated snake in Ang Thong province, central Thailand on September 24.

The snake appeared to have just finished eating some of the chickens as it was coiled up near the empty cages.

It also swallowed a hen breeder worth 50,000 Baht (1,227 GBP) and other expensive chickens he takes care of as a pet. Overall, the snake with a huge appetite ate a meal worth 100,000 Baht (2455 GBP).

The furious rooster fighting enthusiast called the animal rescuers to take the snake out of his farm before they arrived with gears.

After thirty minutes, the rescuers were able to corner the wild animal and grab its neck before placing it inside a sack.

The farm owner said he will build a safer coop for his chickens before thanking the rescuers who left with the snake to be released later into the woods.
