This is the astonishing moment two tokay geckos were locked in a tug-of-war over a giant centipede.

Tao Phiren saw the two lizards fighting over the huge insect at his home in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand on September 24.

The shocked homeowner had just returned from work and was astonished at the size of the resillient centipede.

However, he said he was more amused about the two reptiles fighting over their food.

He said: "So many weird things had been happening to me lately and I came home seeing this.

''It gives me the creeps when I think about all those reptiles and insects in my home.''

Tao added that he left the reptiles to finish their business and they were gone when he returned a few minutes later.

Tokay geckos eat insects, and sometimes, small mammals. They typically eat locusts, crickets, cockroaches, centipedes and even scorpions.

Centipedes, on the other hand, rarely bite humans but when they do, it is usually because they feel threatened.

Most people will only experience short-term pain, skin inflammation, and redness. However, some people may be allergic to the venom that the centipede injects into the skin.
