Swimming with sharks in Cornwall

Buy video

Swimmers snorkel with Blue Sharks in deep water just off the Cornish coast. With no protective cage and using only masks and snorkels to view these inquisitive and elegant creatures, there were plenty of nervous jokes about 'needing a bigger boat' among the group before we jumped in. The sharks however, showed no fear, swimming right up close to us, and right through the group bobbing about in the ocean.

Other visitors to the boat were shoals of fish and a comb jellyfish, it's swimming hairs refracting multicoloured lights like an underwater disco.

The nerves soon went once we'd seen between five and ten of these stunning sharks, with their long swooped tail and distinctive blue colour. Only a short boat trip from the shore, the views are incredibly up close and personal, with people amazed at how really blue the sharks actually are.
